373 FXUS65 KFGZ 290521 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 1021 PM MST Sun Apr 28 2024 .SYNOPSIS...Warm and dry conditions are expected through the week with breezy afternoon winds. Low pressure passes to the north of the area on Thursday, causing temperatures to cool slighty, but they rebound nicely heading into the weekend. && .UPDATE...Clearing skies this evening and overnight will be mostly sunny Monday with temperatures near to just above normal for springtime. Light westerly winds will become a bit breezy by late morning, continuing through the afternoon. No updates needed to the forecast at this time. The only necessity is to enjoy the pristine weather this week. && .PREV DISCUSSION /426 PM MST/...The trough continues to push off to the east, leaving us with much drier and warming conditions. As we go through the week, we will see a much more zonal flow across the region. This will allow for temperatures to warm each day, becoming around 5-10 degrees above the seasonal averages by midweek. Nighttime temps will be on the cool side though as we should have mostly clear skies. Winds will kick up each afternoon with gusts between 20-30 mph across the forecast area. Winds will become light and variable overnight. The light winds and clear skies combined with the dry conditions will allow for good radiational cooling to take place. The only exception is a trough that dips down from the north on Thursday. This trough remains mostly off to the north of the region and does not have a ton of moisture associated with it. So aside from an increase in some cloud cover and slightly cooler temperatures, we won`t really even notice its passage. Overall, looks to be a fairly quiet weather week for the region. && .AVIATION...Monday 29/06Z through Tuesday 30/06Z...VFR continues with light winds overnight. SW winds 10-20 kts after 17Z/Mon. OUTLOOK...Tuesday 30/06Z through Thursday 02/06Z...VFR conditions with SW winds 10-20 kts on Tuesday, increasing to 15-25 kts on Wednesday. && .FIRE WEATHER...Monday and Tuesday...Dry and mild with breezy southwest winds 10 to 20 mph each afternoon.
