Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
302 PM CDT Fri Apr 19 2024

.DISCUSSION...

The cold front has pushed through a majority of the area, bringing
increased humidity, cloud cover, and greatly reduced fire weather
conditions. Wetting rains are possible for most beginning late
this afternoon through early Sunday. Even for spots that miss out
on rainfall, excellent moisture recovery occurring each night
with daytime minimum humidity of at least 30-40 percent should
help ERCs improve greatly the next several day. Gradual warming
and drying early next week brings the return of critical humidity
to our far western zones but light winds should curb any concerns.
A few lightning strikes are possible in the Davis Mountains/Big
Bend on Monday afternoon.
