NEAR TERM...
(Now through Wednesday)
Issued at 314 PM CDT Tue Mar 26 2024

A cold front has completed moving through the forecast area and
exited to the east, and showers currently located mainly east of
I-65 taper off leaving dry conditions later this afternoon. A
large upper trof spanning much of the CONUS amplifies a bit while
progressing slowly to over the central and eastern CONUS through
Wednesday. The cold front which exited to the east of the area
meanwhile looks to become nearly stationary over the far northeast
Gulf into Georgia. A secondary cold front (associated with a
surface low well to the north) slowly moves through the forecast
area tonight and both fronts nearly join together later on
Wednesday. This leaves the forecast area in a persistent dry
northerly flow through the period, and have gone with a dry
forecast through Wednesday. Lows tonight range from the mid 40s
well inland to the lower/mid 50s near the coast. Highs on
Wednesday will be in the lower to mid 70s. A High Risk of rip
currents is in effect through the period, and a High Surf Advisory
is in effect until 10 am Wednesday, by which time surf heights of
4-7 feet will have subsided sufficiently. /29

SHORT/LONG TERM...
(Wednesday night through Tuesday)
Issued at 314 PM CDT Tue Mar 26 2024

The broad upper trough will be moving east across our area
Wednesday night, and move off to our east by Thursday. A west to
northwest upper flow develops on Thursday as the upper trough
moves east and surface high pressure building east across our
area. Dry and warm conditions the persist on Friday and through
the weekend as a surface high pressure drifts eastward over the
area. Southerly flow returns by early next week as a result of the
surface high pressure becoming centered over the western
Atlantic. Upper flow also becomes more zonal early next week as an
upper ridge pushes out over the southern Gulf. Moisture will
begin to increase slightly on Monday, but conditions should still
remain dry given the overall subsident pattern. Temperatures will
gradually warm with highs in the low to mid 80s by next week. /13

MARINE...
Issued at 314 PM CDT Tue Mar 26 2024

Moderate to occasionally strong northeasterly winds prevail
through Thursday morning then diminish Thursday afternoon into
Thursday night. A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 1
am tonight over the open Gulf waters for allow for seas to subside
below 7 feet. /29
