...Recent rains have all but wiped out drought in Southeast
Missouri...

SYNOPSIS...

Severe Drought /D2/ and Moderate Drought /D1/ have been eliminated
from southeast Missouri. Carter, Ripley, Butler and Wayne
Counties are still shown as abnormally dry /D0/.


SUMMARY OF IMPACTS...

Soil Moisture Conditions.
Very heavy rainfall during February has caused increased soil
moisture and caused above normal conditions.


CLIMATE SUMMARY...
Very heavy rainfall during the last half of February caused
widespread flooding.

At Cape Girardeau, Missouri 8.55 inches of rain fell during
February. This is 4.64 inches above normal. Since January 1, 11.67
inches of rain has fallen and this is 4.67 inches above normal.


PRECIPITATION/TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK...
Dry weather will persist over the region over the weekend.
Showers will bring rain between 1/4 and 1/2 inch to the region on
Monday but then dry and cooler weather will settle in for the
remainder of the week.


HYDROLOGIC SUMMARY AND OUTLOOK... As of March 2, streamflows
across southeast Missouri are running above normal.


NEXT ISSUANCE DATE...
This will be the last drought statement for this event as Severe
Drought conditions have been eliminated.
