The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended
the

* Flood Advisory for...
  North central Catawba County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
  East central McDowell County in western North Carolina...
  Southern Alexander County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
  West central Iredell County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
  Southeastern Caldwell County in western North Carolina...
  Central Burke County in western North Carolina...

* Until 730 PM EDT Wednesday.

* At 120 PM EDT, heavy rainfall over the past 48 hours has caused
  significant runoff into the Upper Catawba basin reservoirs. This
  is causing rises above 100ft or full pool resulting in shoreline
  flooding and flooding of access points around the lakes.

* This advisory is in effect for the following lakes...Lake James,
  Rhodhiss, Hickory, and Lookout Shoals. Please visit
  https://lakes.duke-energy.com/#/lakes for more information on the
  latest lake levels.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Morganton, St. Stephens, Sawmills, Granite Falls, Valdese,
  Bethlehem, Drexel, Connelly Springs, Rutherford College and Glen
  Alpine.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

Please report flood water flowing over roads or threatening property,
or landslides to the National Weather Service by calling toll free,
1, 800, 2 6 7, 8 1 0 1, or by posting on our Facebook page, or Tweet
it using hashtag nwsgsp. your message should describe the event and
the specific location where it occurred.
