Fire Weather Planning Forecast For West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
241 PM CDT Sat Jun 23 2018

.DISCUSSION...
Minimum RH values of less than 15 percent are forecast Sunday
afternoon over a widespread area including southeast New Mexico,
southwest Texas, the Upper Trans Pecos, and over the western
portions of the Permian Basin. Twenty foot winds should remain below
20 mph for most locations. The Guadalupe Mountains could see
slightly stronger winds, which could result in near critical fire
weather conditions for portions of that area late Sunday afternoon
into the early evening. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible
today during the late afternoon and evening over the eastern Permian
Basin and Rolling Plains. Scattered thunderstorms will also be
possible over eastern Pecos and Terrell Counties. Storms that
develop could produce unexpected wind shifts and brief gusty winds.
Poor to fair RH recovery is forecast overnight for the Guadalupe
Mountains and the surrounding plains. Good RH recovery is forecast
elsewhere. Similar RH recovery is expected late Sunday into Monday
morning.
