.DISCUSSION...
(This evening through next Friday)
Issued at 223 PM CST SAT DEC 13 2025

Light rain is ongoing in spots across southern counties in Central
Alabama. Much of the area is currently partly to mostly cloudy, and
more widespread rain will begin to move into the area after 6 pm.
Some CAM guidance hints that showers should form into a line along
ans southeast of Interstate 85, with a rumble or two of thunder not
out of the question before the line moves out of the southeastern
counties. Rain chances decrease quickly after 6 am, with a few light
showers lingering across the south or southeast through 9 or 10 am
at the latest.

Northerly winds will pick up dramatically on Sunday behind the cold
front, with gusts 20-25 mph forecast. Skies should clear by midday
as temperatures struggle to get out of the 30s in most areas along
and north of Interstate 20. Temperatures will fall quickly after
dark, reaching the mid to upper teens in all north and central
locations Sunday night. Low 20s are expected across the southeastern
areas. Wind chill values will be in the 7 to 15 degree range early
Monday morning, with the lowest values occurring in many areas from
10 pm to 3 am. Winds will subside by Monday morning, with wind chill
values being close to air temperatures by daybreak (mid teens north
to low 20s south).

Highs will rebound into 40s by Monday afternoon, followed by another
night of low to mid 20s area-wide. Highs will be in the 50s Tuesday,
upper 50s to low 60s Wednesday, and 60s to around 70 on Thursday.
Rain chances look to return by Thursday, ending by Friday morning.

Issued at 507 PM CST SAT DEC 13 2025

Low clouds will return overnight, with most terminals falling into
MVFR and IFR category from reduced CIGs. Light rain will be
possible at most terminals overnight as well, with reduced VIS
likely during the rainfall. However, strong north winds will get
going overnight, allowing for quick mixing into the morning. While
VFR conditions are expected area-wide by 14/16z, gusty north winds
are expected through the afternoon hours.

.FIRE WEATHER...

Shower activity will increase across the state this afternoon and
evening and into the overnight ahead of an arctic front that will
bring much colder and drier air into the area Sunday and Monday.
Breezy to gusty northerly winds are forecast Sunday with 20 foot
winds 12-18 mph and gusts up to 15-22 mph. Min RHs will fall into
the 25-40% range, though temperatures will remain in the 30s-40s.
Low RHs will persist into Monday, in the 20-30% range, with high
temperatures in the 40s. Winds will be lighter Monday, generally
less than 5 mph. Central Alabama will be rain-free Sunday through
Wednesday.
