...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 2009, a strong cold front moved across the High Plains resulting
in northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph gusting to 60 mph at some
locations.
The surface low intensified as it moved into Kansas, producing blizzard
conditions across portions of extreme eastern Colorado, northwest
Kansas, and southwest Nebraska. At times, visibility dropped to an
eighth of a mile from blowing snow and 4 to 5 foot drifts were reported.
Interstate 70 remained closed for approximately 6 hours overnight from
the Colorado Kansas border west to Aurora, Colorado due to adverse
conditions. Snow totals around the area ranged from 2 to 5 inches.
