For the following areas... Coastal waters from Altamaha Sound to Fernandina Beach FL out 20 NM... Waters from Altamaha Sound GA to Fernandina Beach FL from 20 to 60 NM... At 941 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from 6 nm northeast of Doboy Sound Buoy D to 22 nm east of Guana River State Park, moving east at 50 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts in excess of 65 knots, and large hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural damage in high winds and hail. Small craft could capsize in suddenly higher waves. Locations impacted include... Buoy Hlha, High Point, Buoy F, Jekyll Island, Buoy Cdh, St Simons Island Village, St. Simons Island, Saint Andrews Sound, Buoy Kby, Dungeness, Saint Marys Entrance Buoy 16, St Simons Sound Buoy 9, and Cumberland Island. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Wind gusts in excess of 65 knots, large hail, high waves, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain are possible with these storms. If your vessel is caught offshore, immediately secure for heavy weather.
