RECORD EVENT REPORT

...HISTORIC SNOWSTORM SET MANY SNOWFALL AND PRECIPITATION
RECORDS AT APPLETON...

THE ONCE IN A LIFETIME SNOWSTORM OVER THE WEEKEND SET MANY
SNOWFALL AND PRECIPITATION RECORDS AT APPLETON.

THE STORM BROUGHT BLIZZARD CONDITIONS TO NORTHEAST WISCONSIN,
MADE ROADS IMPASSABLE THROUGHOUT THE REGION, CAUSED SPORADIC
POWER OUTAGES, WIND GUSTS OF 35 TO 50 MPH WERE REPORTED AND
PRODUCED WAVES OF 10 TO 16 FEET WAVES ON LAKE MICHIGAN. MANY
BUSINESSES WERE CLOSED FOR A FEW DAYS DUE TO THE STORM.

MINOR FLOODING WAS NOTED AT THE MOUTH OF THE FOX RIVER IN
GREEN BAY. HIGH WAVES ON LAKE MICHIGAN PRODUCED SOME DAMAGE
TO THE RAMP LEADING TO THE SS BADGER IN MANITOWOC.

HERE IS A LIST OF RECORDS THAT OCCURRED OR ARE STILL ONGOING.
MORE RAIN AND SNOW IS IN THE FORECAST THIS WEEK.

AS OF MARCH 31ST OF THIS YEAR, THE SEASONAL SNOWFALL TOTAL WAS
26.7 INCHES WHICH WAS WELL BELOW NORMAL UP TO THAT DATE. AS OF
7 AM THIS MORNING, 30.8 INCHES OF SNOW HAS FALLEN IN APRIL. THE
MONTH OF APRIL ACCOUNTED FOR 54% OF THIS WINTER`S SNOWFALL TOTAL.

THE WEEKEND SNOWSTORM ALONE OBLITERATED THE PREVIOUS APRIL MONTHLY
SNOWFALL RECORD. AS OF 7 AM THIS MORNING, THE MONTHLY TOTAL STANDS
AT 30.8 INCHES FOR APRIL. SOME SNOW IS IN THE FORECAST DURING THE
MIDDLE OF THIS WEEK.

PRECIPITATION TOTALS OVER THE WEEKEND WERE FROM 2 TO 4 INCHES ACROSS
CENTRAL INTO NORTHEAST WISCONSIN WITH SLIGHTLY LOWER AMOUNTS ACROSS
THE FAR NORTH. THE COMBINATION OF THE RAIN AND HEAVY SNOW ALONG WITH
SNOW MELT WILL LEAD TO A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE RISK OF RIVER
FLOODING FOR THE REMAINDER OF APRIL.
