FLOOD STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BLACKSBURG VA

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in North
Carolina..
  Watauga River near Watauga R. near Sugar Grove affecting Watauga
  County

The Watauga River has crested at the gauge near Sugar Grove,
reaching a stage of 7.32 feet around 1030 AM EDT. The river
crested at the Foscoe gauge a few hours earlier. Stages should
continue to fall through the day. Rainfall across the basin
ranged from 3 to 4 or more inches across parts of the basin.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flooded areas...the water may be much deeper
than you think.

* at 11AM Tuesday the stage was 7.2 feet and falling.
* Flood stage is 6.0 feet.
* Impact...at 6.0 feet...Flooding on portions of Watauga River road
  begins.
* Flood history...this crest compares to a previous crest of 6.9 feet
  on Apr 24 2017.
