.DISCUSSION...

Warm, dry and breezy southwesterly flow today will result in elevated
to locally critical fire weather this afternoon. These conditions
amplify considerably Monday to produce widespread critical to extreme
fire weather conditions to areas mainly along and east of the I-25
corridor. Peak gusts reaching 45 to 55 mph will combine with single-
digit humidity to allow for rapid fire spread from any new sparks.
Cooler conditions with lesser winds will be present through
northwestern areas. Winds shift out of the northwest Monday night
into Tuesday morning with cooler temperatures most areas. Despite the
cool down, critically low humidity and strong northwest winds will
still favor another round of critical fire weather conditions for the
northeastern and east-central plains zones Tuesday afternoon. Yet
another round of critical fire weather will be possible through the
northeastern highlands and plains Wednesday afternoon. A cold front
brings cooler northeasterly to easterly flow into northeastern plains
Thursday and all of eastern NM Friday. Dry, warm and breezy
conditions will remain along and west of the central mountain during
this time.
