Hydrologic Statement

...Water levels are high or forecast to have significant rises for
the following rivers or creeks:  Grand River at Jackson...Sycamore
Creek at Holt...Thornapple River at Hastings...Kalamazoo River at
Comstock...New Richmond...St. Joseph River at Burlington...

.Scattered rain showers will continue overnight and gradually come to
an end Tuesday morning.  Additional rainfall tonight and Tuesday
morning is not expected to be heavy. Rainfall estimates from radar
indicate that a quarter to in excess of a half an inch of rain has
fallen the past 24 hours.  The following forecast is based on observed
and forecast 24 hour precipitation.

For the Grand River At Jackson... the latest stage was 13.6 feet at 9
PM Monday.   No flooding is forecast.  The maximum stage forecasted
is 13.7 feet after midnight tonight.  Flood stage is 14.0 feet.  At
14.0 feet... Expect minor flooding of low lying areas..

For the Sycamore Creek At Holt... no observed stage was available.
No flooding is forecast.  The maximum stage forecasted is 6.4 feet
tomorrow morning.  Flood stage is 8.0 feet.  At 6.0 feet... Flooding
begins in low lying areas along the creek and at the Lansing
Municipal Golf Course and Scott Woods Park..

For the Thornapple River Above Hastings... the latest stage was 5.2
feet at 10 PM Monday.   No flooding is forecast.  Flood stage is
7.0 feet.  At 5.0 feet... River is bankfull. Expect minor
flooding of low lying areas and farmland adjacent to the river..

For the Kalamazoo River At Comstock... the latest stage was 7.1 feet
at 9 PM Monday.   No flooding is forecast.  Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
At 7.0 feet... River is bankfull..

For the Kalamazoo River Near New Richmond... the latest stage was
15.6 feet at 10 PM Monday.   No flooding is forecast.  The river has
fallen M feet in the past 24 hours.  Flood stage is 17.0 feet.  At
15.0 feet... River is bankfull and begins to spill over into large
swampy areas along the river. Boardwalk along the river would become
flooded..

For the St Joseph River At Burlington... the latest stage was 6.0
feet at 10 PM Monday.   No flooding is forecast.  Flood stage is
6.5 feet.  At 6.0 feet... River is bankfull, minor overflow into
low lying wooded areas along the river begins..

Safety message...Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks.
