.SHORT TERM /THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Issued at 353 AM CDT Thu Apr 11 2024

The main concern in the short term will be fire weather
concerns. The combination of strong winds and dry conditions has led
to a Red Flag Warning this afternoon across the Sandhills into north
central and central Nebraska. See Fire Weather Section for more
information.

As for high temperatures today, temperatures will be near
seasonable with highs in the upper 50s across much of western
and north central Nebraska, with low 60s across far
southwestern Nebraska. Today will surprisingly be the coolest
day out of the next 4 days.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 353 AM CDT Thu Apr 11 2024

An upper level ridge will build in from the west starting
on Friday and center itself over the central CONUS for the weekend,
bringing well above normal temperatures as highs will reach the low
to mid 80s Saturday and Sunday. Warm and dry conditions over the
weekend will lead to elevated to near critical fire weather
concerns.

Confidence continues to increase in winds strengthening on
Monday and Tuesday with wind gust of 30 mph or greater possible, as
a closed low moves across the region. This will also bring the next
chance of precipitation to the area and even the potential for
thunderstorms. Temperatures will turnn cooler after Tuesday with
highs only in the mid 40s to mid 50s by Thursday.
