thunderstorm in northern Elko county. For tomorrow, gusty
northwest winds will continue with slightly colder air filtering

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Tuesday night. Current radar loop is
showing some light returns across portions of northern Elko
county this afternoon. This is due to a upper trough skirting
along the US/Canadian border. The showers will remain on the light
side, with a lightning strike or two, and diminish into the early
evening hours. Winds will remain strong and gusty, especially
across the areas east in Elko county, where a wind advisory
remains in effect. Look for winds to gust to 50-55 mph there. For
tonight, clear and cool conditions will prevail with lows in the
20s and 30s.

For Tuesday and Tuesday night, a west to east flow will develop as
an additional upper trough moves along the northern Rockies.
Northern and central Nevada is expected to remain dry during the
day and overnight. WInds will continue to remain breezy to locally
windy with highs in the 50s and 60s. Quiet and cool will be the
rule during the overnight with lows in the 20s and 30s.

.LONG TERM...Wednesday through next Monday

Weather pattern in the long term shows on-and-off weather, as the
low pressure system over Wednesday continues to give chances of
40% or lower for precipitation over northeastern Nevada. Cooler
temperatures with highs in the 40s to 50s are expected from the
passing cold front with lows in the 20s. Breezy northwesterly
winds expected in the afternoon at 10-20 mph for central and
northeastern Nevada.

Thursday, a drier pattern towards central Nevada is expected with
slightly warmer temperatures in the 50s to 60s expected as a more
zonal flow moves across the silver state. Small chances for
precipitation remain for portions of northeastern Nevada along the
state border, with chances at 20% or below. Breezy westerly winds
expected across the state at 10-15 mph, with 15-20 mph for
northwestern Nevada.

Friday is expected to be a quiet weather day with high temperatures
reaching into the 60s to 70s and lows in the 30s to 40s. Light
westerly winds at 5-10 mph.

Saturday and Sunday, models are showing another active weather
pattern making its way towards the western U.S. however there is
low confidence on the position of the system. Chances of
precipitation is expected to return, with chances at 25-45% for
northern Nevada. High temperatures Saturday expected to be in the
70s, and will cool into the 60s by Sunday. Lows also expected to
cool, however remain in the 30s to 40s. Breezy southerly winds
expected each day in the afternoons, with speeds at 15-20 mph.

The weather pattern is likely to continue through Monday with
highs down into the upper 50s and westerly winds at 15-20 mph. We
will keep an eye on this next weather system as it develops and
makes its way towards the states.

expected the next few days, including freezing temperatures at
night at higher elevations, which will likely slow high elevation
snow melt. A few showers are expected this afternoon across far
northern Nevada but are expected to be insignificant in terms of
hydrology with a few hundredths of an inch of rain at best.

The Bruneau River is currently in action stage and will likely
remain in action stage for the next several days.
