Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern Nebraska/Southwest Iowa
National Weather Service Omaha/Valley NE
1133 AM CDT Mon Apr 15 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

Very high to extreme fire danger is expected this afternoon across
northeast Nebraska and western Iowa. The extent at which relative
humidities can drop this afternoon will depend on how fast the
northward progression of a warm front will be today. As the warm
front passes, winds will still remain southeasterly with gusts 25
to 40 mph. There will be a much larger jump in relative humidities
south of this boundary leading to falling fire danger there. This
warm front should be north of the area by 8 PM this evening.

Several rounds of scattered showers and thunderstorms (some
strong to severe) will be possible beginning this afternoon
through tomorrow night. Highest rain chances will be in northeast
Nebraska and western Iowa Tuesday morning (90 to 100% chance of
rain). Highest chances for thunderstorms will be tonight between
10 pm and 7 am.
