THE MONTH OF APRIL AT THE GRAND FORKS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OVERALL
WAS COLDER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL. THE MONTH STARTED OFF VERY COLD
WITH DAILY TEMPERATURE DEPARTURES AS MUCH AS 23 DEGREES BELOW
AVERAGE...BUT AFTER THE 20TH OF THE MONTH TEMPERATURE DEPARTURES
TRENDED TOWARD AVERAGE TO ABOVE AVERAGE VALUES. THE RESULTANT
AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS 33.2 DEGREES WHICH WAS 9.3 DEGREES
BELOW NORMAL. THIS MAKES THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE THE EIGHTH
COLDEST ON RECORD...WITH THE COLDEST BEING 29.7 DEGREES BACK IN 1950.
ON APRIL 9...THE AIRPORT SET A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE OF 7 DEGREES
BREAKING THE OLD RECORD OF 9 DEGREES PREVIOUSLY SET IN 1997.

LIQUID EQUIVALENT PRECIPITATION WAS 0.35 INCHES FOR THE MONTH WHICH
WAS 0.66 INCHES BELOW NORMAL. A TOTAL OF 3.0 INCHES SNOW FELL DURING
APRIL.
