Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
115 PM PDT Thu Apr 26 2018

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...Thermal low pressure over the PDX metro
and Cascade foothills will result in a warm and dry late afternoon
and early evening with east winds continuing across the Cascade
ridgetops and near the Gorge. Cooler and moister air currently
over the southern Willamette Valley and Coast Range will spread
across the rest of the area later this evening and overnight. An
approaching upper level trough will likely bring areas of wetting
rains Friday through the weekend.

.DISCUSSION...Thermal low pressure over the PDX metro and Cascade
foothills will result in a warm and dry late afternoon and early
evening with east winds continuing across the Cascade ridgetops
and near the Gorge. Cooler and moister air currently over the
southern Willamette Valley and Coast Range will spread across the
rest of the area tonight with the marine layer likely approaching
the Cascade crest by Friday morning.

An approaching upper level trough could spark a thunderstorm or
two over southern Oregon late this afternoon or early evening
that could move into eastern Lane County before falling apart.
More importantly, the aforementioned upper level trough will
result in a band of rain shifting northward across the area on
Friday. This will likely produce wetting rains for much of the
area as it does so. Cool and showery weather will likely continue
through the weekend with additional rounds of wetting rains
possible. Conditions look to warm and dry out during the early to
middle part of next week.
