NORTHERN IREDELL...SOUTHEASTERN CALDWELL...CENTRAL CLEVELAND...
WESTERN GASTON AND SOUTHEASTERN BURKE COUNTIES UNTIL 245 PM EDT...

At 213 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles east of Shelby, or 4 miles south of Waco, moving northeast at
55 mph.

Several strong thunderstorm clusters were also moving rapidly
northeast across the western Piedmont of North Carolina.

Locations to be impacted include...
Hickory, Statesville, Shelby, Newton, Lincolnton, Taylorsville,
Gastonia, Kings Mountain, St. Stephens and Conover.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph, pea size hail and very heavy rainfall rates
up to 2 inches per hour will be possible in these areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio and tv
stations, as well as local cable tv outlets for additional
information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 PM EDT for western and
the Piedmont of North Carolina.
