Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
1229 PM MDT Sun May 19 2024

...A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect for portions of the area
Monday afternoon...

.Discussion...

Dry, warm and windier conditions are expected across the district
for today and Monday, leading to spotty critical fire weather
conditions. Fuels across most of southern Colorado are not
critical at this time, however, zone 225 below 7500 feet is
critical and with a Fire Weather Watch now in effect for Monday
afternoon. There is a chance for afternoon and evening showers
and thunderstorms both today and Monday, with a few of the storms
possibly becoming strong across the eastern plains and Pikes Peak
region.

An upper low pressure system will cross the region Tuesday,
bringing a slight cool down as well as some light mountain snow
and a better chance for showers and thunderstorms to much of the
area. A warming and drying trend returns by Thursday and is
expected to last into the following weekend.

Smoke dispersion is expected to be very good to excellent across
the area today and Monday.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
