Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
421 AM EDT Thu Apr 18 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Weak high pressure will be over the area today with plenty of
sunshine and very warm temperatures with highs in the upper
80s to around 90 degrees. A surface trough sinking south
through the area this morning will support west to
northwesterly surface winds through the day, although winds
could shift back to the southwest mid afternoon in the CSRA.
Downsloping flow and deep mixing should support min RH
values around 25 percent this afternoon.

Moisture increases tonight into Friday as cold front moves
into the region and stalls through the weekend keeping
chances of rain over the area Friday into Monday with Sunday
having the highest chances. Winds should be southwesterly
ahead of the front through Friday into early Saturday before
shifting to the north and northeast behind the front Sunday.

Fog potential: Patchy fog possible.
