Today:

Clouds have passed across the central portions of Iowa through the
overnight and in a few isolated locations spotty sprinkles have
occurred. Temperatures overnight have remained in the low to mid 50s
for much of the area while parts of far northern Iowa dipped into the
mid 40s. Winds were light and variable.

A mix of sun and clouds today with temperatures this afternoon warming
into the low to mid 70s. Thunderstorms are expected to develop this
afternoon and continue into the evening with a few strong to severe
storms possible, along with pockets of locally heavy rain.

Tonight and beyond:

Showers and thunderstorms will linger overnight and into the day on
Thursday, making for a dreary day as temperatures struggle to reach 60
degrees. Temperatures begin a rebound on Friday back to the 70s, with
temperatures approaching 80 by early next week.
