.New NEAR TERM, SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, MARINE...

NEAR TERM...
(Now through Friday)
Issued at 356 PM CDT Thu Apr 11 2024

The clouds and isolated showers will continue to push east and out
of the area through this evening as the upper low over the Tennessee
Valley continues to move northeast. A cooler and drier airmass will
move into the area tonight as high pressure builds in. This will
also result in the gusty winds decreasing this evening as the
pressure gradient relaxes. Lows tonight will fall into the mid/upper
40s inland to low to mid 50s along the coast. High pressure
continues to build into the area on Friday providing for sunny skies
and seasonably warm temperatures in the lower to middle 70s.

Coastal hazards with high surf and life threatening rip currents
will continue through Friday morning. /13

SHORT TERM AND LONG TERM...
(Friday night through Thursday)
Issued at 356 PM CDT Thu Apr 11 2024

Upper level ridging builds over the forecast area for the weekend
through the middle of next week as surface high pressure slides east
to a position of the Southeast U.S. coast by the end of the weekend.
A noticeable warm up is expected with a prolonged period of dry
weather. Temperatures rise into the upper 70s to lower 80s on
Saturday, warming into the lower to middle 80s for Sunday through
the middle of next week. Low temperatures will start off cool in the
lower to middle 50s, except upper 50s near the coast, for the
weekend and then rise into the lower to middle 60s for the first
part of next week as southerly low level flow returns and humidity
gradually increases. The next chances for any precipitation should
hold off until at least the end of next week. /JLH

MARINE...
Issued at 356 PM CDT Thu Apr 11 2024

A moderate to strong westerly flow becomes predominately offshore
by late this afternoon into tonight. Winds quickly drop off after
sunset tonight with the Gale Warning expiring at 7pm this evening
and the Small Craft Advisory expiring at 7am Friday for the well
offshore waters. Seas and winds will relax as we head into Friday
and the upcoming weekend as light offshore flow remains over the
area and high pressure moves overhead. A return to light to
moderate onshore flow can be expected by late Sunday into the
beginning of next week. /14
