Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
142 PM PDT Fri May 18 2018

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...A cool marine air mass remains over the
area this morning, but a slight warming and drying trend begins
Saturday. There is a slight chance for showers and a thunderstorm
over the South Washington Cascades into this evening. Shower
chances spread south in the Cascades through the weekend, with
thunder again possible Saturday afternoon. Expect warming and
drying next week.

.DISCUSSION...Onshore flow is weakening today, although the same
cool marine air mass will remain over the forecast area into this
afternoon. A weakening upper low over Washington may provide just
enough forcing for a few showers and thunderstorms over the South
Washington Cascades later this afternoon and this evening. Another
weak upper low returns a chance for showers starting Saturday
with some chance for Cascade thunderstorms. Expect additional
warming and drying next week.
