...FLOOD POTENTIAL..

THE FLOOD POTENTIAL IS CURRENTLY LOW FOR THE ENTIRE STATE.

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION...

THE 500MB PATTERN IS CHANGING FROM THE RECENT HIGH AMPLITUDE PATTERN
OVER THE ALASKA REGION TO A MORE ACTIVE PATTERN... WHICH WILL BRING
SEVERAL ROUNDS OF PRECIPITATION TO THE STATE... ESPECIALLY THE
SOUTHERN MAINLAND AND SOUTHEAST... THIS WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEK.

...SNOW DEPTH...

REPORTED SNOW DEPTHS FROM LOW AND MID-ELEVATION STATIONS ARE
GENERALLY LESS THAN 68 INCHES STATEWIDE... ALTHOUGH SEVERAL STATIONS
IN THE MOUNTAIN RANGES AROUND THE GULF OF ALASKA ARE REPORTING UP TO
117 INCHES.  THE LARGEST REPORTED LOW TO MID ELEVATION SNOW DEPTH IS
117 INCHES AT A STATION IN NORTHERN SOUTHEAST ALASKA.

...ICE THICKNESS...

ICE THICKNESSES ARE MEASURED NEAR THE FIRST OF THE MONTH WHEN
CONDITIONS ARE SAFE TO DO SO.  ICE THICKNESS REPORTED TO DATE FOR
EARLY FEBRUARY ARE:
15 TO 19 INCHES IN ANCHORAGE
23 INCHES IN WASILLA
21 INCHES AT BETHEL ON THE KUSKOKWIM
15 INCHES AT MCGRATH ON THE KUSKOKWIM
19 INCHES AT LAKE MINCHUMINA
12 TO 33 INCHES IN THE TANANA BASIN
21 INCHES AT BETTLES ON THE KOYUKUK
32 INCHES ON KOTZEBUE LAKE
34 INCHES AT SELAWIK ON THE SELAWIK RIVER
20 INCHES NEAR STEVENS VILLAGE ON THE YUKON
28 INCHES AT EAGLE ON THE YUKON.

...LONG RANGE...

THE 6 TO 10 DAY TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF
BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER PART OF THE SOUTHEAST QUARTER OF THE
MAINLAND AND OVER ALL OF SOUTHEAST ALASKA.  THERE ARE INCREASED
PROBABILITIES OF ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER THE WESTERN AND
NORTHERN MAINLAND.

THE 6 TO 10 DAY PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED PROBABILITIES OF
ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION OVER THE ENTIRE STATE.
