...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1942, two violent F4 tornadoes tore through Northeast
Oklahoma.  The deadlier of the duo killed 52, injured
350, and caused around $2.5 million damage.  Its track
was 20 miles long, one quarter mile wide, and stretched
from Eastern Rogers to Western Mayes counties.Forty
nine of the fatalities occurred in Pryor, where one third
of the town was destroyed.  The second F4 tornado ripped
through Northern Rogers County.  It killed four and
injured 12 along a track 15 miles long and was around 200
yards wide.
