.DISCUSSION...
(Today through Wednesday)
Issued at 250 AM CDT Thu Mar 28 2024

Skies are clear across the Mid-South early this morning with
temperatures ranging from the upper 30s to mid 40s. With clear
skies and light winds, temperatures should continue to fall into
the 30s later this morning and the Frost Advisory and Freeze
Warning remain in effect for the entire region. High pressure
currently extends across the Ohio Valley and into the southern
Plains.

This large area of high pressure will move slowly east today with
dry weather expected to continue. Winds will start to shift to the
west bringing somewhat milder air into the Mid-South. Temperatures
will be a few degrees warmer today with highs in the low to mid
60s. As the area of high pressure shifts east of the region
tonight, winds will begin to become more southerly making for a
milder evening. Temperatures will not be as chilly tonight with
lows Friday morning in the upper 30s to mid 40s which should
prevent any widespread areas of frost from developing.

Dry, breezy and warmer weather is expected for Friday through
Sunday ahead of a developing storm system in central Plains.
Temperatures will be above normal over the weekend with highs
approaching 80 degrees for Sunday.

On Monday, a cold front will start to track across the southern
Plains before moving into the Mid-South for late Monday night and
Tuesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to move
into the Mid-South by Monday afternoon and then become more
widespread for Monday night and Tuesday. At this point, severe
weather is not anticipated for the region during this time.

After the cold front pulls away from the region Tuesday night,
cooler and drier air will return to the Mid-South and will remain
in place for Wednesday.
