FIRE DANGER STATEMENT

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ANTICIPATED THIS AFTERNOON
ACROSS SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE BRUSH COUNTRY...COASTAL BEND...AND
COASTAL PLAINS...

ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS WILL OCCUR THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS
MUCH OF SOUTH TEXAS, EXCLUDING THE NORTHERN COASTAL BEND AND
VICTORIA CROSSROADS. NORTHERLY WINDS BETWEEN 15 AND 20 MPH WITH
OCCASIONAL HIGHER GUSTS ARE EXPECTED. AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY
VALUES WILL ALSO FALL BELOW 40 PERCENT ALONG THE COASTAL BEND AND
BELOW 30 PERCENT INLAND. CONDITIONS SHOULD IMPROVE THIS EVENING
AS RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES BEGIN TO RECOVER AND WINDS DECREASE.

AFFECTED RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO EXERCISE CARE WITH RESPECT TO ALL
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES THAT COULD INADVERTENTLY CAUSE WILDFIRES.
AVOID THE USE OF WELDING OF GRINDING EQUIPMENT NEAR GRASS AND DRY
BRUSH. IN ADDITION...AVOID PARKING VEHICLES IN TALL...DRY GRASS
AND WEEDS THAT COULD BE IGNITED. DO NOT TOSS CIGARETTE BUTTS ON
THE GROUND. REPORT WILDFIRES QUICKLY TO THE NEAREST FIRE
DEPARTMENT OR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICE.
