Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
315 AM MDT Tue Apr 23 2024

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...It will be cooler and more
stable across the plains and foothills today. That will result in
mostly poor smoke dispersal. Mountain areas will see better
mixing, mild temperatures, and enough wind for good to very good
smoke dispersion this afternoon. Scattered showers and isolated
storms will develop in the mountains, with isolated to scattered
showers spilling eastward across the plains late this afternoon
and evening. Precipitation amounts will be mostly light and under
a tenth of an inch. Light easterly winds will prevail over the
plains, with generally lighter westerly winds over the mountains
and high valleys.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Wednesday through Saturday...Temperatures
warm back up Wednesday as high pressure aloft moves over Colorado.
Isolated showers/storms will be possible over far northern Colorado,
otherwise dry conditions will prevail. Moisture increases for
Thursday ahead of an approaching system that will bring scattered
showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening. Though
along and south of I-70, may see drier and breezy conditions Thursday
afternoon. Cooling trend begins Friday and continues into Saturday
as a strong storm system takes aim on the region. There`s a good
chance for widespread rain and mountain/foothills snow late Friday
and Saturday.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
