Issued at 413 AM CDT Mon Apr 22 2024
Today and Tonight:
AS an upper-level shortwave trough pushes east of the forecast area
today, rising mid-level heights and subsidence aloft will support
continued clear skies. Temps in the post-frontal cool air mass will
still be around 10 degrees cooler than normal, but weather should be
pleasant with generally light winds as a surface high slides across
the area. Low RH with this high will also add to the pleasant
conditions today. With light low-level winds and good radiational
cooling conditions tonight, Min Temps were nudged a little cooler
than guidance in the core axis of the surface high. /NF/
Tuesday-Sunday:
Quiet conditions are expected to start the forecast period as a
surface high pressure centers over Georgia. Temperatures will be
near seasonal before undergoing a warming trend during the mid-week.
By Wednesday, a weak cold front is expected to move across northern
portions of the CWA. Models are varying with precipitation
associated with the aforementioned frontal boundary and keeping
majority of rain chances to the west of the area. However, isolated
showers can`t be ruled out for northern counties on Wednesday and
Thursday as PW values are around 1.3 in and uncertainty remains
with this system. A gradually warming trend will begin to take
place, bringing mid-week high temperatures to the upper 70s to mid
80s. In addition to warmer temperatures, moisture is expected to
return ahead of the next disturbance due to southerly flow.
Heading into the weekend, another cold front will begin to approach
the area, resulting in rain chances throughout the weekend. Although
rain chances are forecasted, the warming trend is expected to
continue into the weekend with high temperatures reaching the mid to
upper 80s through the end of the period. /SW/
