Please contact our office at (904) 741-4370 if you have questions or concerns with this forecast. ...STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE ON FRIDAY... .DISCUSSION... Strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will impact downtown Jacksonville on Friday. Timing of this activity remains in question at this time, but the potential for isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts of 50-70 mph, hail, isolated tornadoes, and frequent lightning strikes exists through the afternoon hours before this activity pushes south of the area towards sunset on Friday. Hot temperatures will continue before this activity develops during the afternoon hours, with high temperatures soaring to near 90 degrees, with heat index values climbing to 90-95 degrees before thunderstorms arrive. Outside of thunderstorm activity, breezy westerly winds will develop by the late morning hours on Friday, with sustained speeds of around 15 mph with frequent gusts around 25 mph through the late afternoon hours. Showers and thunderstorms will push south of downtown Jacksonville by sunset on Friday, with breezy westerly winds continuing through the evening hours. A cooler and much drier air mass will then filter into our area late Friday night and Saturday, with lows falling into the 60s by sunrise on Saturday. Highs on Saturday will remain in the low to mid 80s, with northwesterly winds of 10-15 mph driving humidity values down to comfortable levels. .FRIDAY...
