.DISCUSSION...

Summer heat continues today and Monday with high temperatures in
the 70s and 80s, well above normal for mid April. Humidity values
will drop to the teens this afternoon. North winds prevail today
and become more northeasterly by early evening. Conditions remain
favorable for burning with lighter winds than Saturday. Although
gusts into the 20s are possible this morning, winds will weaken
later in the day as weak surface high pressure slides in. Lighter
winds make for poor smoke dispersal early this morning.

On Monday, stronger southeast winds gusting 30 to 45 mph will
cause near critical to critical fire weather conditions to
develop. Though dew points will slowly rise through the day,
afternoon humidity levels are still likely to drop to near or
under 25 percent.

Widespread showers and storms will dominate the forecast Monday
night through early Wednesday. Drier weather may return late in
the week, but breezy, cooler spring weather comes back as well.
