Through 9 am, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will wax
and wane over the island chain and its nearshore waters. These
showers will move towards the east at 10 to 15 knots. Mariners
encountering the stronger portions of this activity near the Middle
and Upper Keys can expect pockets of moderate to heavy rainfall
reducing visibilities, wind gusts up to near 30 knots, and frequent
lightning strikes. Island communities can expect up to an additional
half to inch of rainfall with additional 1 to 2 inches for Vaca Key.
The more vigorous activity will be covered with Special Marine
Warnings.
