792 WGUS84 KMEG 061223 FLSMEG Flood Advisory National Weather Service Memphis TN 723 AM CDT Mon May 6 2024 MSC093-137-061530- /O.NEW.KMEG.FA.Y.0018.240506T1223Z-240506T1530Z/ /00000.N.ER.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.000000T0000Z.OO/ Marshall MS-Tate MS- 723 AM CDT Mon May 6 2024 ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 AM CDT THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of North Mississippi, including the following counties, Marshall and Tate. * WHEN...Until 1030 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 723 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 3.5 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Laws Hill, Barr, Tyro, Wyatte, Chulahoma, Aiken, Thyatira, Spraggins, Malone, Looxahoma and Crossroad. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
