Subject: Updated: Provision of Full-Resolution National Digital
Forecast
Database (NDFD) Data and Air Quality National Digital
Guidance
Database (NDGD) via Amazon Web Services (AWS) Transitioning
to
Operational Status on or about April 17, 2024

Updated for new implementation date of on or about April 17, 2024 for
Provision of Full-Resolution National Digital Forecast Database
(NDFD)
Data Transitioning to Operational Status.

The provision of NDFD and Air Quality data via AWS will enable users
to
access all existing operational and experimental NDFD and Air Quality
NDGD
data at the finest temporal and spatial resolutions in GRIdded Binary
data
Edition 2 (GRIB2), image/display, and eXtensible Markup Language
(XML)
format.

Full resolution map images of NDFD will be available at the same
graphical.weather.gov and digital.weather.gov URLs which show lower
resolution images now. Some bookmarks that specify page options via
the
URL may need to be updated. NDFD XML data currently available at
graphical.weather.gov/xml and digital.weather.gov/xml will be
available at
the same URLs, but with finer temporal and spatial resolution than is
currently available operationally. No changes to the XML query
strings
should be required to access these data at full resolution.

URLs for the current full-resolution prototype sites
(https://digital.mdl.nws.noaa.gov,
https://graphical.mdl.nws.noaa.gov, and
https://digital.mdl.nws.noaa.gov/airquality) will redirect to
operational
sites of https://digital.weather.gov/, https://graphical.weather.gov/
and
https://airquality.weather.gov/.

In addition, full-resolution NDFD element images can now be accessed
via
Web Map Services (WMS). Click on the NDFD Data link along the bottom
of
the map image to learn how to do this.

Further information on accessing and using NDFD is available online
