...May 20, 2018 Rainfall Totals for Broward County Flooding...

Heavy rains swept across much of South Florida during the early
morning hours of May 20th. As much as 6 to 8 inches of rain fell
between 1 and 10 AM over many parts of Broward County, including the
cities of Tamarac, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Lauderhill, Fort
Lauderdale, Cooper City and Hollywood. Most of this rain fell in 4.5
hours between 5 and 930 AM. This caused significant street flooding
which rendered many streets impassable along with several road
closures and vehicles stranded. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood
International Airport set a record for rainfall for the date of 5.27
inches.

A list of selected SE Florida rainfall totals from May 20 follows,
and most of these were from Broward County. Totals listed are from
24 hours from midnight May 20 to midnight 21 except where denoted by
a star. Nearly all of the rain fell between 1 and 10 AM.
