Surf Zone Forecast
National Weather Service Caribou ME

For the beaches of Downeast Maine...

MEZ029-272015-
Coastal Hancock-
Including the beach of Sand Beach
308 AM EDT Sun May 27 2018

.Today...
Sky/weather.........Partly sunny.
Max Temperature.....In the mid 50s.
20-foot winds.......East winds 5 to 15 mph. Wind Gusts 25 mph in
                    the morning.
Surf................Around 3 feet.
Water Condition.....A moderate chop.
Water Temperature...46 degrees. According to the USCG, when the
water temperature is below 50 degrees, the
chance of immediate incapacitation due to cold
shock is extremely high, and chances of
survival become severely diminished even with
                    the appropriate thermal protection.
Rip Current Risk....Low. A low risk of rip currents implies that
wind and wave conditions are not expected to
support the development of enhanced rip
                    currents. However...rip currents are always
                    possible...especially near jetties and other
structures. Always have a flotation device with
                    you in the water.
