...TEST TORNADO DRILLS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...

The state of Minnesota is conducting test tornado drills today at
1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Many areas will activate their outdoor
warning sirens as well as send out text messages or emails for
those who have signed up with their county or city. Social media
posts will also be sent. The TOR code will not be used at all for
the NOAA weather Radio.

Severe weather is often preceded by a watch, and that is why we
are now reminding you of the two drills that will take place today
at 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m.

A watch is an important time to plan for where you would take
shelter. A watch is also a good reminder to make sure you have at
least two ways to receive a warning. Outdoor Warning Sirens are
not enough and may not always activate or be heard. Get a NOAA
Weather Radio. Sign up for warning notices by text or email or
phone through your local county or city.

The drills are part of Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota
and are jointly provided by the Minnesota Department of Homeland
Security and Emergency Management, the National Weather Service,
tribal nations, counties and cities. They are just a test to
remind you of what you should do if there was a real warning. For
more information, check our website weather.gov/fgf or our social
media pages.
