In 1997, wind gusts up to 70 mph knocked out power and overturned a cattle truck in northwest Kansas. Wind gusts reported were 70 mph in Brewster, 69 mph in St Francis, 66 mph in Atwood, 65 mph in Bird City, 65 mph in Goodland, 62 mph in Grinnell, and 62 mph in Leoti. There was 1 minor injury in the truck accident. $$
