.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 430 AM EDT Wed Apr 17 2024
Another quiet night into early morning across the Florida Keys.
KBYX radar remains quiet, though, a few pesky, tiny showers were
sampled by the radar over the distant Straits of Florida. GOES 16
Nighttime Microphysics shows mainly cumulus/stratocumulus moving
from east to west through the Keys. Temperatures along the Island
Chain are in the mid 70s with dew points in the upper 60s to near
70 degrees. Sprawling high pressure over the western North
Atlantic extends west through the Florida Peninsula, the Keys, and
into the Gulf of Mexico. As a result, marine platforms are
observing easterly winds of 15 to 20 knots and occasional gusts to
25 knots with Island Chain communities observing 10 to 15 mph with
occasional gusts to 25 mph.

.FORECAST...
Expect continued quiet weather through the remainder of the week,
through the weekend, and into early next week as high pressure
remains in control. Near nil rain chances are expected through the
forecast period with slight chances for rain removed from Monday
and Monday night as well with this forecast package. Model cross-
sections of RH and forecast soundings show continued dry air
through a deep column of the atmosphere. However, there will be
some moisture undulations in the lowest levels of the atmosphere
that will result in periodic episodes of more widespread
cumulus/stratocumulus streaming from east to west through the
Florida Keys in the easterlies. Breezy conditions this morning are
expected to slacken slowly through the day with further
slackening tonight and Thursday. Temperatures and dew points
remain in check through the remainder of the week before slightly
increasing over the weekend and into early next week. The humidity
will become more noticeable early next week along with moderating
temperatures with highs in the mid to upper 80s and overnight
lows in the mid to upper 70s.

.MARINE...
Issued at 430 AM EDT Wed Apr 17 2024
Small Craft Should Exercise Caution (SCEC) across most of the
Florida Keys coastal waters today, except for Florida Bay where
Small Craft Should Exercise Caution Until Winds Decrease is
headlined. From synopsis, high pressure over the western North
Atlantic will maintain moderate to fresh easterly breezes today.
High pressure slowly weakens late week and through the weekend
while moving slightly further east into the western North
Atlantic. As a result, expect waxing and waning gentle to at times
moderate breezes late week with winds veering to the east to
southeast over the weekend.
