...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT WESTERN ONSLOW AND SOUTHEASTERN
DUPLIN COUNTIES THROUGH 915 PM EDT...

At 848 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Maple Hill, or 12 miles northwest of Surf City, moving northeast at
35 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Jacksonville, New River Station, Half Moon, Camp Lejeune Center,
Richlands, Folkstone, Cypress Creek, Midway Park, Verona, Catherine
Lake, Dixon, Petersburg, Albert J Ellis Airport, Richlands South,
Holly Ridge, and Haws Run.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
eastern North Carolina.
