.Discussion...
Unusually hot temperatures persist today over much of East
Central Florida, along with increasing southwest winds as a cold
front approaches. Deep mixing heights will draw down drier air
from aloft, leading to critical fire weather conditions over
Indian River, St Lucie, and Okeechobee counties this afternoon.
This also happens to be where drought conditions have become
established, and a Red Flag Warning has been issued for this area.
Elsewhere, at least near-critical fire weather conditions will extend
southward from a line extending approximately Orlando to Palm Bay.
North of there, RH minima will be slightly higher, in the 40-45%
range. Also, there is a better (20-40%) chance of showers and
storms in the afternoon and evening hours northeast of Orlando to
Palm Bay.
This weekend, isolated storms may linger for the Treasure Coast
on Saturday. Otherwise, it will remain dry. With a cold front
sliding to our south, another bout of drier air will temporarily
visit the peninsula. Another day of near-critical fire weather
conditions is expected Saturday along the Kissimmee Basin. Winds
turn more northeasterly and lessen on Sunday, though humidity
readings will remain quite low over the interior.
Fog potential and other remarks...widespread fog is not expected
Localized visibility reductions due to smoke from new or existing
fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
