...The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a flood
warning for the following rivers in South Dakota...Minnesota...

  James River Above Yankton
  Vermillion River Near Davis
  Vermillion River Near Wakonda
  Redwood River Near Marshall

.The following river forecasts include forecast precipitation through
tonight. Any additional future rains could affect the crest
forecasts.

The snow pack from the recent storms will begin melting later this week
as temperatures finally begin to warm up, and runoff from this snow melt
will cause significant rises on the area rivers and streams. With a fairly
slow melt through the early to middle parts of next week, flooding is
still expected to remain minor for most areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Safety message...Do not drive cars through flooded areas. the water
depth and road condition may be unsafe.

  The James River Above Yankton.
* from Wednesday afternoon until further notice.
* At 10AM Thursday the stage was 7.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Wednesday and continue to
  rise to near 12.9 feet by next Thursday. Additional rises are
  possible thereafter.
* At stages near 12.0 feet...Significant agricultural flooding
  begins.

  The Vermillion River Near Davis.
* from Monday evening until further notice.
* At 07AM Thursday the stage was estimated at 7.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 11.0 feet.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Tuesday and crest near
  12.4 feet by next Thursday.
* At stages near 12.0 feet...Highway 18 west of Davis will being
  flooding, and several houses in the western parts of Davis are in
  danger of flooding.

  The Vermillion River Near Wakonda.
* from Wednesday morning until further notice.
* At 07AM Thursday the stage was estimated at 8.4 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by Wednesday and continue to
  rise to near 14.6 feet by Thursday. Additional rises are
  possible thereafter.
* At stages near 15.0 feet...Highway 19 south of Centerville could
  start flooding if the levees fail.

  The Redwood River Near Marshall.
* from Sunday morning to Tuesday evening.
* At 09AM Thursday the stage was 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage Sunday and crest near
  14.5 feet on Monday. The river is expected to fall back below
  flood stage Monday night.
* At stages near 14.0 feet...There will be minor flooding of low
  lying areas outside of Marshall.
