Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern Kentucky
National Weather Service Jackson KY
545 AM EDT Tue Apr 23 2024

...Low Relative Humidity and Gusty Southwest Winds Today...
...Low Relative Humidity Thursday...

.DISCUSSION...Breezier southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph, with gusts
of 20 to 25 mph, are expected today. Drier air will also mix down
from aloft, allowing for relative humidity values to bottom out in
the 18 to 28 percent range for many locations. A cold front will
move through eastern Kentucky later tonight, bringing light showers
to the area. Rainfall amounts continue to look light, with most
locations receiving less than a tenth of an inch. Following the
potential for some patchy frost in the valleys Thursday morning,
another dry day will be on tap, with afternoon minimum relative
humidity values in the 20 to 30 percent range. 20 foot winds look
to average less than 10 mph. Warmer weather and small chances of
rain return by the end of the work week and through the weekend.
