VFR through the TAF period with generally SCT-BKN mid-level
clouds. South/southwest winds should prevail through 15Z for KDEN
and KAPA (slightly stronger at KAPA with gusts 20-25 kts). After
15Z, wind forecasts are quite uncertain as they could become more
northwesterly or northerly with a potential weak shear zone
setting up just to the south of metro Denver. However, diurnal
patterns and pressure gradients would suggest a more
east/southeast component developing by 18Z. Given the persistence
in the short range guidance, we`ve opted for VRB winds for a few
hours 17Z-20Z, and then a more normal diurnal prevailing wind.
However, confidence in any one given direction is very low in this
pattern.
A couple of high-based showers are possible after 21Z, but
coverage at this point looks sparse enough that VCSH wasn`t
included. If anything does develop in the area, another complexity
to the wind forecast is possible VRB wind gusts to 30 kts
possible given the dry sub-cloud layer and DCAPE near 1000 J/kg.
At this point, we think most of this high based activity would
stay closer to Fort Collins or Greeley, but still a low
probability of an outflow reaching the Denver area TAF sites
21Z-02Z. After that, we hope to settle back down to
south/southwest flow again at KDEN, but still low confidence given
the variety of short range model output we`ve seen.
Finally, moisture advection occurs over the plains tonight, and a
possible Denver cyclone develops. For now, the fog or low stratus
threat would remain well northeast and east of Denver.

as mainly clear and breezy conditions are expected. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms will drift over far northern Utah and
Colorado at times but confidence low on timing and coverage so
not placed in this forecast. Afternoon gusts of 20 to 30 mph can
be expected at most TAF sites again this afternoon and early
evening. Moisture increases overnight and will be a precursor to
expanding showers and flight impacts beyond 12Z on Thursday.

the valid TAF period. Winds will remain out of the south through
much of the day, switching to a north flow around 00Z/6PM. There is
a 30-40% chance that winds remain out of the south through the day.
Rest of Utah and Southwest Wyoming...VFR conditions are expected to
prevail across Utah and southwest Wyoming through the TAF period.
Mid-level cloud cover will be limited to northern Utah and southwest
Wyoming late this morning and afternoon, with increasing potential
for showers across this same area through the late evening and
overnight hours. Winds across much of the area will be out of a
southwesterly direction, with peak gusts approaching 20 kts in
northern Utah/ southwest Wyoming, and 30 kts in southern Utah.

A weak wave and increasing moisture will allow for some
isolated convection THIS afternoon and evening. We have
introduced some prob30 groups to account for this, with the best

begin to diminish, though still remaining breezy at generally
20 kts or less. SCT to BKN mid and high level clouds will
continue through late in the period with ceilings beginning to
fall to low-end VFR and potentially MVFR by 12Z as a stratus
deck moves northward into southwest Nebraska.

For KGLD & KMCK... VFR conditions are forecast through about
03Z. For the first few hours of the period KMCK may have some
lingering showers nearby and KGLD may have LLWS, but both are
forecast to end shortly. The rest of the day time hours will see
more sunshine and strengthening low level winds around 15-20 kts
with gusts up to 30 kts. This evening, ceilings are forecast to
lower after 03Z down to IFR. KMCK may drop a little later after
06Z as the moisture will be moving in from the south. Fog could
also develop, though the ceilings may already be below 500ft
when that occurs. The last note is the potential for showers and
storms again after 00Z. There is uncertainty with the
precipitation due to the presence of low clouds and potential
fog, so have not included them in the TAFs yet. McCook has the
relative highest chance for seeing storms tonight and small hail
wouldn`t be out of the question after 06Z if a storm can develop
and grow.

VFR flying conditions prevail across all terminals at the
beginning of this TAF cycle, with east winds aob 12 kts. Shortly
after sunrise, winds will veer to southeast and increase into
the 13-18 kt range, and persist through the end of the period.
Around midnight Thursday morning, continued moist advection and
diurnal cooling will result in cigs steadily dropping from VFR
to LIFR by 06-09Z Thursday.

Cloud cover continues to build across the Panhandles with all
terminals expected to see terminals transition MVFR to occasional
IFR level CIGs. Expect these conditions to hold over the
terminals for most of the day with KAMA and KDHT potentially
return to VFR CIGs later this evening. Chances of brief showers or
drizzle can still occur at the terminals but confidence is not
high enough to include mention in the current package.

portions of ern NM, including KTCC, KLVS, and KCVS, this morning.
Low cigs are expected to diminish aft 24/16Z. Breezy to lcl windy

diminishing aft sunset.
