Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Glasgow MT
109 PM MDT Wed Mar 27 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Afternoon Discussion:
Today through Friday:
A shortwave ridge will maintain its presence over northeast MT to
bring above freezing temps to the area Thursday afternoon. Then, a
shortwave trough will move through overnight Thursday, with rain
showers changing to mixed precipitation. This activity will pass
into ND by Friday afternoon. There is high confidence (80 percent)
that snowfall amounts will stay below 1 inch of accumulation.
However, there is moderate confidence (40 percent) that areas
north of the Hi-Line will see freezing rain overnight Thursday.
Very little accumulation is expected with this activity.

Friday night through Sunday night:
Multiple shortwave troughs are expected to move through over the
weekend, which will keep temperatures well below average and
provide brief opportunities for snow. Little accumulation is
expected with this activity, since the main precipitation region
is on track to move more directly over southern Montana.

Monday onward:
A positively tilted region will begin filling in on Monday, which
will bring temperatures much closer to average. In other words, a
move toward spring is in store during the middle of next week.
