...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM HST EARLY THIS
MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF HAWAII IN HAWAII COUNTY...

At 1238 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain mainly over the North
Kohala District. Rain rates have slightly decreased but is still
falling at a rate of up to 2 inches per hour. Flash flooding is
ongoing. Additional heavy showers will be possible over the next few
hours.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
         properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
         closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible
         in steep terrain.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Waikoloa Village, Kapaau, Honokaa, Waimanu Valley, Waipio Valley,
  Kamuela, Pololu Valley, Kohala Ranch, Kukuihaele, Kawaihae,
  Halaula, Puako, Hawi, Mauna Lani and Mahukona.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
