OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
247 AM CDT Tue Apr 9 2024

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

An area of low pressure around 29.8 inches over southwestern
Ontario continues to weaken as weak high pressure around 30.0
inches in the central Great Plains noses into the area, leading to
light winds tonight. Winds shift southwesterly today as a weak
cold front lifts across the lake. Weak high pressure will then
pass to the south and east of Lake Michigan for Wednesday,
supporting a continuation of light southerly winds. Strengthening
low pressure is then expected to track from the Lower Mississippi
Valley into the Lower Great Lakes from Wednesday night through
Thursday night. The potential continues to increase for northerly
gales over Lake Michigan late Thursday into Friday.
