...Data for Little Rock for Winter 2017-2018...
.Summary...
Thanks largely to very cold weather in late December and early January,
this was the coldest winter in several years. Also, due largely to
heavy rainfall during the fourth week of December and during much of the
latter half of February, this was the wettest winter in nearly 70 years,
and one of the wettest winters ever recorded. For the 2nd year in a row,
snowfall was below average, but more snow was recorded this year versus
last year.
.Seasonal Temperatures...
The average high temperature was the coldest since 2014-2015. The average
low temperature was the coldest since 2013-2014. The average seasonal
temperature was the coldest since 2014-2015.
The first 80-degree day of the year occurred on February 20th. Though this
was about three weeks earlier than average, it was still nearly two weeks
later than last year.
There were 48 days with low temperatures at or below freezing, which was
the most since the winter of 2013-2014.
There were six days with high temperatures at or below freezing, which
was the most since the winter of 2010-2011.
There were 11 days with low temperatures at or below 20 degrees, which
was the most since the winter of 2013-2014.
There were three days with low temperatures at or below 10 degrees,
which was the most since the winter of 1989-1990.
The coldest temperature during the winter was 7 degrees above zero,
which was the coldest winter temperature since 1995-1996.
.Seasonal Rainfall...
There were 34 days with measurable rainfall, which was the most since the
winter of 2007-2008. Due largely to record February rainfall, the rainfall
total for the season was over twice the 30-year average. This made it
the wettest winter since 1949-1950, and over all the 4th wettest winter
since records began in 1874.
.Seasonal Snowfall...
There were two days with snowfall, and it was measurable on both days. This
was right at average for the season. However, the total snowfall was only
half of the 30-year average for the winter. That being said, it was still
the snowiest winter since 2015-2016.
