PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Forecast crests are based upon rainfall that has occurred along with
anticipated rain for the next 24 hours. Adjustments to the forecasts
will be made if additional heavy rainfall occurs.



Do not drive cars through flooded areas. Remember, two feet of
rushing water can carry away most vehicles including pickups.  Turn
around and don`t drown!



A followup product will be issued later. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather
Radio, local tv and radio stations...or your cable provider, for the
latest information. The latest graphical hydrologic information can
also be found at Weather.Gov.

Forecast information for
  Amite River Near Grangeville.
* No flooding is currently forecast.
* Flood stage is 35.0 feet.
* Impact...At 46.5 feet...Flood of Record occurred on April 14, 1955.
  At this level, widespread flooding will occur over the area.
* Impact...At 44.0 feet...Widespread flooding will occur with many
  roads, including Hwy 63 and Hwy 37, impacted.  A few homes and
  buildings will be flooded.
* Impact...At 38.0 feet...Highway 63 and Highway 37 will be impacted
  with some difficulties for travel.
* Impact...At 35.0 feet...Agriculture, timber, and sand and gravel
  operations will be curtailed as land in the flood plain is
  inundated.
